Join us on a journey with Himalayan Tahr Treks, an entirely local company, through the remote Manaslu region of Nepal. Explore the "Valley of Happiness" and find balance in nature. Immerse and learn during consultations and workshops form our spiritual teachers, the leaders of the sacred Serang Monastery.

Itinerary

Day 1

Kathmandu 1,400m: 25th April, 2026

Upon arrival, be greeted by our team at the airport and let us help you settle in.

Day 2

Kathmandu 1,400m: 26th April, 2026

Opening Ceremony with the group and your Yoga teacher Madleen.

Prep Day: Before trek departure, we will formally go over safety, itinerary, packing, and questions.

Day 3

Dhoban 1,070m: 27th April, 2026

Private Jeep Ride: The ride is about 10 hours

Day 4

Nyak Phedi 1,800m: 28th April, 2026

Jeep ride 2 hours, and then begin our 4 hours trek to Nyak Phedi.

Day 5

Bihi 2,130m: 29th April, 2026

A 5-hour trek to the village of Bihi. With the help of our guide and the local people, visit the new school, wander around, and enjoy the sightseeing.

Day 6

Serang 3,200m: 30th April, 2026

A 7-hour long trek with a steep ascent, but its natural beauty will take you to Serang Monastery, with a history of over 500 years, is a unique Buddhist sanctuary nestled in the lap of the Himalayas.

Day 7

Serang 3,200m: 1st May, 2026

Take this day to fully immerse yourself at Serang, the remote Buddhist sanctuary. Begin the morning with a tour from your trekking guide and/or with our monastery representative. During the tour, learn about current projects, the rich history, and culture, and visit the school.

Day 8

Serang 3,200m: 2nd May, 2026

Take the rest of the day to relax and enjoy the serene, tranquil environment. As you relax, Himalayan Tahr Goats will likely stroll in front of you unafraid, as they, too, feel at peace among the monks and nuns. Get involved in other activities.

Day 9

Tsak 2,390m: 3rd May, 2026

A 6:30-hour trek to the village of Tsak, situated at an altitude of 2,390m, with an overnight stay in a local home.

Day 10

Prok 2,380m: 4th May, 2026

A 4-hour trek to the village of Prok, regarded as one of the most beautiful villages in the entire Nubri Valley, thanks to its stunning landscapes.

And practice Yoga and Sound Healing Therapy with our Yoga teacher Madleen.

Day 11

Kal Taal Lake 3,685m: 5th May, 2026

An 8-hour hike back and forth to the sacred Kaal Taal Lake, known for its breathtaking scenery, or alternatively, relax in the village, interact with the locals, and visit the village monastery.

Day 12

Nyak Phedi 2,340m: 6th May, 2026

A 4-hours walk back to the familiar village of Nyak Phedi.

Day 13

Machhakhola 870m: 7th May, 2026

3:00 trek to Philim, and a 3 hours drive via local jeep to Machhakhola.

Day 14

Kathamdu 1,400m: 8th May, 2026

Private Jeep Ride: Relax in the 8:00 hour ride back to Kathmandu. Great job, our journey has concluded.

Day 15

Kathamdu 1,400m: 9th May, 2026

Retreat ends after closing ceremony around 12pm.

Gear

    • 1 rain jacket- We recommend a lightweight, waterproof jacket, preferably a high-quality raincoat.
    • 1 lightweight down jacket or small jacket
    • 1 light Sweatshirt or hoodie
    • 1 set of thin, lightweight long underwear top and bottom.
    • 2-3 short-sleeved shirts - these can be wicking and/or cotton.
    • 1-2 long-sleeved shirts
    • 1 pair of shorts- Not too short, no more than an inch or two above the knee. Women often find that a pair of long shorts and a long skirt are good.
    • 1 pair of lightweight sweat pants/warm fuzzy pants
    • 1 pair of lightweight hiking pants
    • 5-6 pairs of underwear and undergarments
    • 3-4 pairs of socks - one warm pair for evenings and mornings, and the rest for hiking.
    • 1 Baseball Cap or Sunhat (You can purchase our company’s hat for 12$)
    • 1 warm hat
    • 1 pair of warm gloves/mittens
    • Lightweight scarf or buff (optional) - handy for dust on trail or road
    • 1 pair of hiking shoes
    • 1 pair of camp shoes - flip flops or sandals or Crocs - it's nice to have camp shoes that socks can be worn with Trekking Poles
